In 2019, inov-8 ambassador and breast cancer survivor Nicky Spinks attempted to become the first-ever woman to complete The Barkley Marathons – the world’s toughest ultra-running race. Technically it looks like five loops of 20 miles to be completed in 60 hours. How hard can that be? But Lazarus Lake, the organiser, throws in a lot of obstacles both mentally and physically to prevent you finishing. Since it’s inauguration in 1986 only fifteen runners have finished. The film ’Last Women Standing: The Barkley Marathons 2019’ tells the story of Nicky, and her fellow female runners, as they battle treacherous terrain, wild weather and the twisted mind of event organiser, Lazarus Lake. Nicky will join us for a special screening of the film and answer your questions on Barkley Marathons, Double Bob Grahams, Double Ramsay Rounds, Double Paddy Buckleys and much more!
